CARING FOR YOUR ALMAVIVA JEWELRY
A jewel from the heart deserves gentle care.
Each Almaviva creation is lovingly handcrafted using natural and color-infused stones, handmade glass and ceramic elements, sacred wood beads and seeds, holy threads and artisanal techniques.
With mindful care, your pieces will accompany you for many years, preserving their beauty and energy.
- Handle with love and intention
Treat your jewelry and malas with the same loving intention with which they were created. Avoid dropping or pulling them – especially malas – as the hand-knotted threads can be delicate. - Keep away from water and chemicals
Remove your pieces before swimming, bathing, or applying perfumes and lotions. Water, humidity, and chemicals can weaken the threads, tarnish metals, or dull the finish of beads and stones. - Store them gently
When not in use, store your jewelry and malas in a soft pouch or in a box, away from direct sunlight and moisture. This prevents tangling, fading, or scratching. - Avoid sleeping or exercising with them
Remove your jewelry and malas before sleep or physical activity to avoid unnecessary tension, breakage, or stretching of the thread. - Treat hand-knotted malas with extra care
Hand-knotted malas are a sacred craft and should be handled with love and mindfulness. Avoid pulling the strands or wrapping them too tightly. If the thread begins to loosen over time, consider having it professionally restrung to preserve its strength and beauty. Rudraksha, wooden beads and gemstones can crack under force, especially those with natural fracture lines. - Cleanse and recharge their energy
Almaviva creations carry symbolic and spiritual energy. Periodically cleanse your malas and crystals by placing them under the moonlight and using sage or palo santo smoke. - Sterling silver care
Our silver jewelry can be polished with a soft cloth to remove tarnish and restore its natural shine, especially the pendants containing handmade miniatures paintings. While some silver jewels might be rinsed in mild soap and water, avoid exposure with harsh detergents, salt or chlorine water, perfume and personal care products to prevent damage. - Embrace their natural evolution
Over time, natural materials may slightly change in appearance – this is part of their soulful journey. Minor signs of wear reflect the life they share with you and are a testament to their authenticity.
THE MEANING OF A BROKEN MALA
A broken mala can hold deep spiritual, symbolic, and emotional meaning, especially for those who use it in meditation, prayer, or as intentional adornment.
It is often seen as a sign that a cycle has been completed – a chapter of personal growth, healing, or transformation. It’s as if the mala has served its purpose and is ready to be released. It may symbolize the need to let go of something in your life: a belief, a relationship or an inner burden.
It’s a call to release and renew, a powerful reminder of the beauty of impermanence and an invitation to presence.
What you can do with a broken mala:
- • Offer gratitude with a small ritual or prayer.
- • Keep the beads as talismans or place them on your altar.
- • Repurpose it into a new creation with fresh intentions.
- • Bury or burn the cord/beads in a respectful way if you feel they have absorbed heavy energy.
JEWELRY REPAIRS
While the breakage might carry spiritual meaning, we understand the desire to hold on to a mala that you used for practice or one chosen for a special purpose.
It might also happen that a piece is damaged accidentally by negligence or by dropping it.
